‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all across the nation,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Fiscal Cliff calculation.
The stockings were hung, by the chimney with care
In hopes that Congress puts an end to the affair.
The US economy is still growing,
confidence is too.
Cries of America’s demise;
time and again have proved untrue.
Global trade’s on an upswing,
China’s got a new regime,
Europe’s dealing with its problems,
Economic expansion’s gaining steam.
With 7 billion people,
On Planet Earth we’re not alone.
Different beliefs, cultures and languages.
But most still seem to love iPhones
Information moves fast today.
Via voice, text, even tweet.
Our round world has become flat again;
Success comes when we compete.
Now, Washington! Now, Wall Street!
Now, Europe and beyond!
People want progress and smart decision making
Time to forge a strong bond.
The American spirit is peerless, time-tested and true.
With perseverance and sound leadership, there’s nothing we can’t do.
With crisis brings opportunity, history has shown,
Success through ingenuity, it’s the fabric of our home.
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!
