Mike’s Morning Brief – June 20, 2018

What’s going on in the world…

Market opens in the green, looking to erase some of the previous day’s losses as trade tariff rhetoric continues but concerns of a full blown trade war dissipate. Nobody wants a trade war. Things are getting interesting in the media space, as Disney ups its bid for the 20th Century Fox assets. M&A has revitalized media stocks and there sure seems to be a lot of runway ahead for the space. GE is out of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. GE was the only original member left from the renowned index created by Charles Dow in 1886, and has been a consistent Dow component since 1907. It’s the end of an era. Crude is catching a bid ahead of the major OPEC meeting this weekend. Interest rates are ticking up while the Dollar slips a bit. Gold is flat. The Dow has declined 6 consecutive days, something it has not done in 15 months. The correction continues.

Have a great morning,

Mike Frazier
