Rick joined the Bedell Frazier team in September 2022 as Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager.
Rick has over 42 years of experience managing client money. In 1992, he started and ran his own investment management firm, Welty Capital Management in Lafayette, CA. He joined Bedell Frazier when Welty Capital Management was acquired in September 2022. Rick’s continuity and succession plan aligns perfectly with the values, investment philosophy and strategic vision found at Bedell Frazier.
Before starting Welty Capital Management, Rick held various positions in wealth management firms. He worked for G.T. Capital Management, a British-based global investment management firm, as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager. While at G.T. Capital Management, Rick managed money for pensions of U.S. companies, as well as Mutual Funds for foreign investors. At G.T. Capital Management, Rick was a featured speaker in annual global marketing tours in the United Kingdom, Japan, and Hong Kong, representing the U.S. investment outlook.
These experiences allowed Rick to hone his security analysis proficiency, portfolio management expertise and client communication skills. His investment expertise has been documented in the Wall Street Journal and has been quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle and other publications. Rick graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in Business/Finance.
As Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Bedell Frazier, Rick plays an important role in actively researching and managing investments for clients and ensuring that decisions about portfolios align with client goals and objectives.
One of Rick’s favorite things to do is spend time with his wife, children, and his grandchildren.
