‘Twas the night before Christmas
From coast to coast,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a political talk show host
The stockings were hung
By the chimney with care
With dreams of a Santa rally,
Circling through the air
The world has major challenges
Planet Earth is a complex place
Global norms are a changing
Disagreements need more grace
Midterm elections moved the scale a bit
Washington still feels like a zoo
The American people are fed up these days
A powerful movement said “Me Too”
Trade Wars and Market turbulence
Geopolitical disruption was the plan
Who’s the enemy? Who’s the ally?
Trump met the Rocket Man
Russia is a menacing force
China’s up there too
Europe struggles for unity
Western alliances are losing their glue
3 months and counting til Brexit
But the deal is nowhere in sight
Messy is an understatement
It’s been an ugly fight
Consumers use their phones a lot
Information races like a flitter
Knowledge has trouble keeping up
You can see that on Twitter
Apple hit $1 Trillion this year
Amazon also passed the test
It’s been 9 years of rally mode
These stocks needed a rest
The Bull Market lost momentum
This always comes with age
Price action turned Bearish in ’18
That’s our primary gauge
The World lost the Queen of Soul this year
We said goodbye to Bush 41
Reynolds, Hawking and McCain passed as well
Lasting legacies well done
The American spirit is peerless, time-tested and true
With perseverance and sound leadership, there’s nothing we can’t do
With crisis brings opportunity, history has shown
Success through ingenuity, it’s the fabric of our home
Now, Republicans! Now, Democrats!
Now, Independents and others!
Our nation requires collaboration!
We’re all sisters and brothers!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!
